CutPRO® Cut Resistant Shirts | Facts & Figures & Statistics

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported arund 900,000 workplace injuries that resulted in days away from work in 2012. Both glazing contractors and glass manufacturers reported higher than average incidences of injury or illness during the year—133.7 for glazing contractors and 118.9 for glass manufacturers.

Based on records from the US Department of Labour, manufacturers of glass products have a total “recordable” incidence rate of nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses of 13.2 cases per 100 full-time workers per year.

According to International Labour Organization glass manufacturers have a total lost workday incidence rate of 6.5 cases per 100 workers per year. 93% of the lost workday cases in the glass manufacturing sector results from injuries rather than occupational illnesses

Reports published by the Queensland (Australia) Government suggest that in Australia, since 2012, there have been 126 glass smashing incidents, 13 involving stacks or racks of glass panelling.

The Health and Safety Executive in the United Kingdom states:

“The handling of flat glass involves the risk of serious personal injury. HSE experience has shown that although the risk is higher in factories where flat glass is manufactured, serious accidents continue to happen in premises where glass is subsequently handled and processed…appropriate protective clothing should be worn when glass is handled manually”.

We strongly believe CutPRO® Cut Resistant Workwear and Cut Resistant Shirts can be deemed as ‘appropriate’.  It can effectively help reduce the risk of injuries at the workplace.  Ultimately it can even save lives, because if, just if a key artery is cut… the consequences will include rapid blood loss, subsequent shock and potential death.
